ODU Tapped to Face #24 Northern Iowa in ESPN Bracketbuster Game

The Old Dominion University Monarchs (17-6/9-2) will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa to play No. 22/24 Northern Iowa (19-2/10-1) in the Bracketbusters TV game on Feb. 19th. The game will be televised on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET.

This will be a battle between two of the nation's top five defenses. ODU is giving up 55.6 points per game, while UNI is giving up 55.1.

ODU and Northern Iowa have met once before. ODU defeated the Panthers, 63-61 in the Puerto Rico Shootout during the 1990-91 season.

This will be the Monarchs second ranked opponent this season. ODU defeated No. 11 Georgetown, 61-57. ODU has also beaten Charlotte from the Atlantic 10, and Marshall from Conference USA.

ODU will be one of five teams from the Colonial Athletic Association whose games will be televised on one of ESPN's family of channels. A total of 11 games will be televised. Five games will be on ESPNU and six will be carried on ESPN2.

The other four CAA games to be televised will be: W&M at Iona on Feb. 19 on ESPNU; Louisiana Tech at Northeastern on Feb. 20 on ESPN2; Akron at VCU on Feb. 20 on ESPNU and College of Charleston at George Mason on Feb. 20 on ESPN2. .

This will be the fifth Bracket buster game for the Monarchs who are 4-0 in the series.
